The former Liverpool manager admits a return to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is a possibility. Klopp, after a transformative nine-year spell featuring a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown for three decades, currently occupies positions in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would welcome the possibility that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he explained to the podcast host: “I declared I will never coach any other side within the country. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”
“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide in a few years, who knows. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about what circumstances must arise to bring him back to the dugout, he confessed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours through long matches; No need for interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, yet sharing a meal with the players enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears for example.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a player he signed while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. Jota died tragically in a road accident alongside his brother recently.
“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. Not a single person would cite it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
