Nearly 55,000 homes have currently been affected by the rains, with their possessions and dwellings damaged.

Heavy precipitation over the recent period have compounded the extremely difficult situation of the many hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians in the region, according to humanitarian organizations.

"Awful" Night Poses Grave Dangers

A official characterized the recent storm as "terrible", with rain so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.

"Last night was exceptionally terrible for the families. The downpours were so strong... And the gales were so strong," noted the spokesperson.

Officials express grave concern that children sheltering in makeshift shelters in damp garments will fall victim to hypothermia and additional ailments.

Casualties and Extensive Damage

Health authorities have reported that one baby has succumbed from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins triggered by the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts put a greater death toll. Officials stated that several residential buildings had fully given way and many others had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency refuges severely flooded.
  • Countless residents forced to find new shelter.

Aid Efforts Seen as Insufficient

Organizations have stepped up deliveries of tarpaulins, bedding and clothing since the ceasefire started, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are operating tirelessly to provide that relief and to allocate it, but the scale of the requirements is so vast that we continue to see thousands of people and children who are genuinely struggling nightly," warned one spokesperson.

Ongoing Concerns and Ceasefire Terms

The next stage of the agreement involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of military forces, and other provisions.

Aid bodies have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing relief to address pressing and future needs."

The hostilities was initiated by an attack in late 2023. Subsequent actions have resulted in a substantial number of fatalities in the territory, according to medical data.
