A suspect has been formally accused with attempted murder in connection with the gunfire incident that wounded New York Jets professional athlete Kris Boyd.
Suspect Identified and Taken Into Custody
The individual charged is a 20-year-old Bronx resident, twenty years old. He was on Monday, accused of attempted murder.
Details of the Mid-November Shooting
The serious shooting happened in the middle of the night of 16 November, outside a well-known New York City restaurant. Police stated the event as a dispute with a group of strangers.
Boyd, 29 years old, was with two other Jets players and a friend in Midtown Manhattan when the taunting escalated.
This led to a altercation, during which police allege Green shot Boyd two times in the torso.
Severe Wounds and Recovery
The gunshot hit Boyd's pulmonary organ and lodged in his pulmonary artery. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition but was later discharged.
It has been reported he has since visited his fellow players at a team training location.
Manhunt and Apprehension in Buffalo
Camera recordings from the area allegedly captured Green fleeing and entering a car driven by someone else.
Law enforcement arrested Green on 8 December in Buffalo, where he was reportedly hiding at his partner's residence.
A law enforcement statement stated that "a person of interest" had been apprehended.
When officers surrounded the apartment complex, the individual was seen "peeking out the window looking for an escape avenue but went back in after seeing the team and a canine officer," the announcement added.
The situation ended shortly thereafter, when the man left the apartment with his hands in the air.
The suspect had "modified his appearance likely to evade capture," law enforcement added.
Boyd's Career Background
Before signing with the Jets earlier this year, Boyd was a member of the and Minnesota Vikings over several seasons in the league.
The cornerback had been on the team's injury list for the Jets after suffering a injury to his shoulder during practice in the late summer.
